After a gap of almost 20 years, Bhopal’s heritage monument Minto Hall is all set to welcome crowds again in its new avatar as a convention centre.
The centre now has a main hall with a capacity of 500 people, an auditorium for 120 people and three small meeting rooms with capacities ranging from 24 to 100 people.
The 110-year old building is a mix of Mughal and British architecture and was built in 1909 to commemorate the visit of British Governor General Lord Minto to the city. The restoration work has sought to retain the heritage and old-world charm of the building, while adding modern amenities and smart systems.
A smart building management system (BMS) will centrally control activities such as firefighting, light and sound adjustments. The landscaping has been done to keep the grandeur of the old era intact. A roof-top cafeteria will offer a view of the sprawling green lawns and lake below. And the viewer’s gallery would give a glimpse of Bhopal’s rich heritage and history besides showcasing contemporary art.
