Nepal shifts trekking permits to digital platform

Nepal has transitioned from its traditional paper-based system to a digital platform for issuing trekking permits to foreign visitors. Effective February 23, trekkers can apply for permits online, eliminating the need to physically visit immigration offices. Payment for permits must be made through Nepali online payment systems, as the government lacks a dollar account. This shift aims to streamline the process, saving time for trekkers who no longer need to queue at banks. Additionally, the move is expected to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and enhance the overall trekking experience in Nepal.
