Sri Lanka is making travel easier with extended visa-free entry and an e-Visa fee waiver for citizens of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Japan until the end of May 2024. This move aims to attract more tourists to the island nation. Travellers from these countries can apply for a 30-day single-entry eVisa without any fees, simplifying the entry process. Sri Lanka has transitioned from the previous ETA system to a streamlined eVisa scheme, requiring all visitors to complete an eVisa application before arrival. Last year, Sri Lanka granted free visas to travellers from these countries, further enhancing ties with key international markets. Additionally, citizens from 48 nations, including European countries, the United States, Thailand, Australia, and Canada, are exempt from additional entry requirements, making travel to Sri Lanka more convenient.
