Travel between Delhi and Meerut, which currently takes anywhere between 3 to 4 hours, will soon be cut down to 60 minutes.
A high-speed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor with aerodynamic, state-of-the-art trains will reduce travel time across the 82 kilometres to around an hour.
The service will offer business class luxury to commuters, apart from a reserved coach for women. Starting at Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan and finishing at Meerut’s Modipuram, the line will have 24 stations, three of them in Delhi.
The train has a designed speed of 180 kmph, with average speed expected to be at 100 kmph. Initially, there will be six coaches to each train, with one business class coach that will provide a comfortable and luxurious ride.
