Bodoland will host its first paragliding championship in Assam from November 10 to 15 this year at the Ontaigufur Dangdhufur Chokrosila wildlife sanctuary, situated in Kokrajhar, Assam.
Paragliding was introduced for the first time in the region in 2013 during Bhaokungri festival, when pilots from Sikkim were invited to train local youth, which has led to increased employment opportunities in the area.
Around 70 pilots from across India and abroad are expected to take part in this event, from 15 countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and national pilots from Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Pune, Sikkim, Manali.
