INS Viraat, the oldest active aircraft carrier in the world, will soon be converted into India’s first-ever moored maritime museum-cum-marine adventure centre.
The museum is proposed to host biodiversity centres and a marine adventure centre providing sailing and scuba-diving experiences; along with virtual galleries, cafeterias and even a training centre for merchant navy crew.
INS Viraat served the British Navy for over 30 years, before being bought by India and inducted in the Indian Navy in 1987.
