Bishwanath Ghat village in northern Assam recognized as the Best Tourism Village of India by the Union Tourism Ministry initiated river tourism on Monday under the “Greater Kaziranga” concept. Coined by Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR) authorities, this initiative aims to extend park experiences to remote areas. The boat safari, officially launched by Biswanath MLA Promod Borthakur, is part of the sixth addition to Kaziranga, spanning 401 square km and characterized by a riverine landscape. Home to diverse wildlife, including rhinos and tigers, this region offers river tourism opportunities, connecting seamlessly to Burhachapori Wildlife Sanctuary and Orang National Park. Khagesh Pegu, DFO of Biswanath Wildlife Division and deputy director of Kaziranga Tiger Reserve, emphasized the significance of these developments.
