Sikkim, known for its beautiful Buddhist culture and heritage, is all set to unveil the tallest statue (at 137-ft) of Chenrezig – a manifestation of Buddha that represents compassion according to Tibetan Buddhism.
Nestled in snow-capped mountains, this new pilgrimage site will act as a big attraction for tourists to the area, replete with a café, skywalk, gallery and the world’s tallest Chenrezig statue at an elevation of 7200 m.
Sikkim has two more Buddhist pilgrimage circuits in south Sikkim – Namchi, home to 135-feet statue of Guru Padmasambhawa and Ravangla, playing host to 130-feet statue of Lord Buddha. With this addition, the state is set to become one of the most significant Buddhist circuits in the world.
