I recently had the opportunity to visit the Six Senses Vana Wellness Resort in Dehradun, and it was an experience that went way beyond my expectations.
First, I will state at the get-go that my wife (who accompanied me on this one) and I were so impressed with the experience that we are going back in a few months for a full two-week program. Very excited about that. We all need to take the time to invest back in ourselves. Not just work.
I equally look forward to offering this amazing product to our partners and clients—something unique in the Indian tourism landscape. So, reach out to me at rajeevkohli@creative.travel to get more information on the special options we have.
Now, we are also delighted to include Six Senses Vana in our “Be Our Guest” portfolio.

Room Tour – Forest / Garden Room
You can get to Dehradun from Delhi by road, train or by air. One hour by air, or 5-6 by road or train. It is an easy journey, whichever way you go. Nestled in the lush greenery of Dehradun, with the majestic Himalayas as a backdrop, this retreat is a sanctuary for the soul. The resort’s philosophy of holistic wellness is evident in every aspect, from the Ayurvedic treatments to the Tibetan healing practices and the yoga sessions that start and end the day with serenity.
From the moment we arrived, we felt enveloped in an oasis of tranquillity and luxury. The architecture blends modern design with natural elements, creating spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and calming. It is by far one of the most elegantly designed resorts I have seen. Our room had a stunning view of the forest that invited contemplation.
The Vana is where you go for wellness. Be it a short Detox session or a longer treatment. It is much more than a casual spa. Their focus is clear – mental, physical and spiritual well-being. The resort has been around for 10 years now, and Six Senses came in a year ago to help get it more global brand recognition. The essence is all the original Vana, though.
The staff at Six Senses Vana were exceptionally attentive. Each meal was a delight, featuring a variety of healthy, gourmet dishes that were as nourishing as they were delicious.
Even
though my visit was very short, I was given a personalised wellness schedule so
that I could experience what they deliver.
The Ayurvedic massage I received was a dance of rejuvenating strokes, while the
Tibetan therapy provided a deep sense of inner peace. I had an acupuncture
session, which was a first for me. Did not hurt. The Watsu water treatment was
a novel ballet of aquatic grace, an experience so profound that it blurred the
lines between therapy and art form. My favourite was the Sound Therapy session.
I just didn’t want to leave. Every treatment resonated with a genuine pursuit
of holistic well-being and the professionalism of the therapists. The days are
full of activities such as yoga and meditation classes, talks, and hands-on
experiences.
I had a chance to chat with some of the other guests, many of whom were regulars. The message was common – they loved the staff. I could see the genuine level of bonds that were created.
Six Senses Vana is not just a retreat; it’s a journey towards well-being, where every detail is crafted to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. It’s an experience I would recommend to anyone seeking a respite from the chaos of daily life and a chance to reconnect with themselves in nature’s embrace.
