If you want to immerse in Bhutanese culture and traditions, a Tsechu (festival) is the best time to travel to the country. These are held across the country in honour of Guru Rinpoche, the spiritual master who introduced Bhutan to Buddhism in the 8th century.
One of the largest Tsechu is held in the capital of Thimphu in central Bhutan. Celebrations are marked with three days of ritual dances and melodious music played at local concerts. The main street of Norzim Lam is packed with vendors and game stalls, attracting crowds from across the region.
