The Rajasthan government is actively pursuing its vision to convert Udaipur, often called the City of Lakes, into India’s inaugural wetland city. This ambitious project aligns with the Ramsar Convention of International Importance, as endorsed by the Environment and the Forest Department. Surrounded by five major lakes, including Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Rang Sagar, Swaroop Sagar, and Doodh Talai, Udaipur is also an integral part of the National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) restoration project established by the central government. With its stunning lakes and natural beauty, Udaipur is poised to become a significant wetland city, emphasizing ecological preservation and enriching its unique allure.
