Certification for yoga professionals expected to increase tourist footfall

Newly introduced certification for yoga professionals in the country is expected to increase tourist footfall, particularly foreign nationals, across the country.

The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) has launched the government-backed certification, which is expected to increase arrivals to yoga centres by attracting tourists for pre-planned as opposed to causal visits. The certification would be granted by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH.

The Ministry has also proposed a project to establish All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy Hospitals in Goa, catering to over 500 students offering undergraduate, post-graduate and doctorate degrees.
