Tourists to Delhi will soon be able to enjoy a ferry service across the Yamuna river, connecting the suburb of Sonia Vihar to Ghaziabad on the outskirts of the city.
A pilot service is slated to start after monsoon, and the regular service will begin by year-end. Each ride would be 30-40 minutes long, operating on electricity and diesel-run vessels.
Though limited to a few kilometers, the service is expected to emerge as a major tourist attraction. The route may also work as a feeder service for major Metro stations in the area.
