Goa Government mandates ‘fish curry-rice’ in beach shacks

To promote Goan cuisine, the Goa government has introduced a new regulation making it compulsory for beach shacks to serve the local delicacy “fish curry-rice” alongside their existing Indian and international dishes. Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte announced this initiative, aiming to enhance the culinary experience for visitors. Historically, beach shacks primarily offered North Indian food, lacking Goan cuisine. Under the state’s new Shack Policy, beach shacks are now obligated to feature and serve Goan dishes, with “fish curry- rice” taking centre stage on the menu, spotlighting the authentic flavours of the coastal state.
