Himachal to prepare baseline data of high-altitude eco-system under SECURE

The ministry of environment, forests and climate change has sanctioned a new project for securing livelihoods, conservation, sustainable use and restoration of high range Himalayan ecosystems.

The Securing Livelihoods, Conservation, Sustainable Use and Restoration of High Range Himalayan Ecosystem (SECURE) project will be implemented primarily in the critically endangered big cat species, snow leopard’s territory across four states, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pardesh and Sikkim in the country.

It will ensure conservation of locally and globally significant biodiversity, land and forest resources in the high Himalayan ecosystem, while enhancing the lives and livelihoods of local communities.
