India’s Independence Day is one of the most important celebrations of the year – a day of patriotic fervour celebrated across the country, bringing together its diverse ethnic, religious and cultural groups. Flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events are held in schools and offices. And people tune into their television sets to watch the iconic flag hoisting ceremony by the Prime Minister at the Red Fort.
