A month-long festival, Saga Dawa holds special significance for Buddhists in the state of Sikkim. Different rituals are performed in the monasteries, representing the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautam Buddha. Lamps are lit up across the streets, which are believed to act as guiding lights for the devotees.
