The dress code was enforced at Virupaksha Temple, Hampi

As of Friday, the Vijayanagara district administration has instituted a dress code, known as Vastra Sanhita, for the Virupaksha Temple, which is under the purview of the Muzrai department. According to this code, devotees are prohibited from wearing garments considered ‘indecent,’ such as jeans, Bermuda shorts, and knickers, when visiting the temple. The measure aims to uphold a sense of decorum and respect within the sacred premises, aligning with cultural and traditional values associated with the religious site.
