The Postcard Hotel goes international with openings in Bhutan, Sri Lanka

Come November, The Postcard Hotel will open doors in Sri Lanka and Bhutan. India’s newest luxury hotel chain launches last year with the grand opening of three hotels in Goa.

The upcoming international outposts promise more of its immersive, intimate setup. Both new properties are in beautiful settings that are perfect for slow travel.

The Postcard Dewa in Bhutan is a 15-key hotel with hilltop views of Thimphu valley. It’s a 20-minute drive to the city and 40 minutes from the airport at Paro. The 13 rooms and two suites come with private sit-outs overlooking forest. There’s fresh mountain trout and ema datshi on the menu. Soak up a traditional hot stone bath or swim in the temperature-controlled pool, hike up monasteries and take a picnic basket to Raidak River.

The Postcard Galle in Sri Lanka overlooks a lagoon, offering 10 ocean-facing suites. The hotel is a couple of hours’ drive from the airport at Colombo, an hour away from several of Geoffrey Bawa’s architectural landmarks, and a few minutes from charming Galle Fort. There’s a therapy suite with Ayurvedic treatments; local culinary delights like lamprais, bolo di amor and Jaffna curry; and a modern aesthetic with high ceilings of Burmese teak.
