Bhai Dooj, An Interlude for Brother-Sister Bonds I 9 November 2018

The festival of Bhai Dooj celebrates the special bond between a brother and sister. Two days after Diwali, sisters invite their brothers to their homes for a special feast. They perform rituals to pray for the long life of their brothers, and exchange gifts and sweets. In some parts of India, women who do not have brothers worship the moon on this day. The ceremony signifies the responsibility of a brother to protect his sister.
