Diwali, The Spark of Celebrations I 7 November 2018

Diwali also known as the “festival of lights”, is an ancient Hindu festival which spiritually signifies the return of Lord Ram, after his fourteen-year exile. The festival celebrates his return as the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. It is one of the biggest festivals of the year and is celebrated all over the country over several auspicious days leading to the evening of Diwali. Homes, offices and all sorts of public spaces are lit up with fairy lights and traditional diyas and candles. On the evening of Diwali, the skies burst open with colourful fireworks and special prayer ceremonies are performed to seek the divine blessings of Goddess Lakshmi (the Goddess of Wealth). It’s a time for friends and families to meet, exchange gifts, feast on traditional delicacies, and spend time together.
