A luxury river cruise, christened Alaknanda, was inaugurated at the Khidkiya Ghat in Varanasi.
Tourists can now tour the city on this double-storeyed cruise through the ghats (river banks) of Varanasi – the mainstay of the spiritual town’s daily activities.
The cruise has a capacity of holding 60 people on the lower deck and 30 people in the upper section. It will cover a distance of ten kilometres from Assi Ghat to Rajghat. The lower deck is fully air-conditioned with a hall for parties and events. The cruise has bio-toilets so that the holy river is not polluted.
