Thrissur Pooram

The “poorams” of Kerala are annual temple festivals celebrated after the summer harvest. The most famous of these is the grand Thrissur Pooram, held at the culturally vibrant city of Thrissur. The festival brings together the spiritual and cultural essence of Kerala, with majestic displays and lively percussion music.

What’s Special: The festival sports an enthralling line-up of vibrantly decked up elephants and is marked by the kudamattom ceremony. Involving swift and rhythmic changing of brightly coloured and sequined parasols, the kudamattom ceremony is one among the highlights and is a keenly watched event.
