Known by different names across the country, Lohri is celebrated to mark the end of the cold winter and arrival of warmer days, along with the onset of the harvest season. Bonfires, music, and good food are the major highlights of this festivity.

What’s Special: People wear new clothes and welcome the warmer days by lighting up bonfires and dancing around them to the beat of “dhols”. Snacks like popcorn, and Indian sweet treats such as gajak, and revdi are savoured with loved ones and even thrown into the fire as an offering.
