World’s first marine cemetery opens in Kerala

The world’s first marine cemetery, made with single-use plastic bottles, opened its gates at Beypore Beach in the South Indian state of Kerala.

The cemetery pays respect to eight critically endangered marine species, such as the seahorse, parrotfish, hammerhead shark, leatherback turtle, dugong, sawfish, eagle ray, zebra shark and Miss Kerala. And aims to create awareness on the devastating effects of single-use plastic, urban and industrial pollution, and overfishing.
